The last few years have not been easy for Eric Lapointe. After enduring the pandemic, pitfalls and hassles with the law, the rocker seems to have landed in a new promised land. Today the singer, father, stepfather and lover seems to be starting a whole new life. Portrait of an artist determined to return to the light.

Although Éric Lapointe has lived in the limelight for a long time, he has preferred to spend the last few years in the shadows, doing shows here and there. The rocker is now determined to return to the public eye and take charge of his career again. As part of the release of his next album “Je marche dans ma vie” on September 9th at the Capitole Theater in Quebec, the artist will perform his new compositions for the first time. An event that coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of his first-ever career album, according to a June 14 press release. Note that this new album will benefit from the work of various collaborators, including singer Lynda Lemay and composer Stéphane Dufour. To keep his fans waiting, Éric Lapointe is expected to reveal a first excerpt soon. Until then, he plans to spend the summer on stages across Quebec, performing his big hits to an audience that will always remain loyal to him.

A road full of pitfalls
Let’s not hide the fact that the last few years have been difficult for the Quebec rocker, whose big comeback to the stage has long been delayed. In October 2020, the artist was granted parole with a one-year probation after pleading guilty to allegations of molesting a woman. It was subsequently determined that his criminal record would be automatically erased after three years. Conditions to be met include: keep the peace, behave well, undergo therapy, and donate $3,000 to charity. Then Éric Lapointe decided to withdraw from the public eye for a few months.
In June 2021 he got into a controversy and had to cancel his show scheduled for June 24 at the Cogeco amphitheater in Trois-Rivières. In fact, Trois-Rivières Events Corporation eventually changed its mind and decided to cancel the show in solidarity with victims of domestic violence. The rocker was therefore unable to celebrate his big comeback on stage as desired.
In the second half of 2021 and in 2022, despite everything, Éric Lapointe continued to give performances here and there in Quebec, but without making big announcements. Then, last November, he revealed on
He shared on social media that he would be reviving his famous Christmas party in Lapointe in December after a four-year absence. With two concerts in Montreal and Quebec, the event brought Éric Lapointe and several guest artists to the stage, including Ludovick Bourgeois, Martin Deschamps, Breen LeBoeuf, Hugo Lapointe and Maxime Lapointe. This re-run of the Party des fêtes in Lapointe proved to be a resounding success as both shows were sold out.
A RARE PUBLIC RELEASE
Following this successful comeback, Éric Lapointe made a rare public appearance at the premiere of the animated film Katak, the Brave Beluga at the StarCité Montréal cinema last February. He was joined by his two sons, Édouard and Christophe-Arthur, aged 11 and 12, from his relationship with ex-model Mélanie Chouinard. During this extraordinary family performance, the artist officially announced that he is working in the studio on a new album, due out in September. At the event, singer Judith Bérard, who was by her side for the occasion, revealed to the media that she has been dating the famous rocker for over a year. A news that caused a lot of excitement and delighted several fans who were happy that their favorite artist had returned in love after years of celibacy.

NEW BLOND, NEW LIFE
Since last winter, Judith Bérard and Éric Lapointe have been living their love in broad daylight. The lovebirds don’t hesitate to share bits and pieces of their daily lives on social networks. In March, they had happy days in Martinique, as evidenced by the beautiful holiday photos on Instagram. And now, in May, the singer posted a rare photo of her lover in a dressing gown and sunglasses, holding an adorable puppy named Bob, doing a crossword puzzle in the Journal de Montreal. Next to him, on the table, we could see a vaper suspecting that he might have quit smoking. With his new girlfriend and new little dog, the rocker gives us the impression that he’s now living a new, calmer and tidier life.
A WOMAN WITH AN IMPRESSIVE CAREER
Éric Lapointe has the chance to share his life with an artist who knows well how his craft works. Remember that Judith Bérard started her career as Crystal in Starmania from 1993 to 1997. She then pursued an acting and singing career in Quebec for several years. In 2003 she moved to Italy with her son Jonathan and the famous Italian composer Romano Musumarra. Over the years she has collaborated with him to compose songs for various artists including Céline Dion, Garou and Hélène Ségara. More recently, Judith Bérard sang with Ginette Reno on the album C’est tout moi released earlier this year.

Back in Quebec since 2017, the tall blonde, who has been single for a few years, would have been dating Éric Lapointe since early 2022. The rocker suddenly became stepdad to Jonathan, who is now in his 20s. However, it should be noted that the latter, who was raised in Europe, does not live in Quebec. He is a chef on various private yachts around the world. One thing is certain: with a blonde who has even more years in the business than he does, Éric Lapointe shares his daily life with a woman who can support him in his projects and career. THE ULTIMATE RETURN
While he will soon be celebrating his 30th career anniversary, Éric Lapointe has yet to get people talking about him. The September release of his new album promises his definitive return to the stage after years of deprivation. Having lived to the fullest, the 53-year-old artist casually admits he’s now walking his life, as his album’s title suggests. A way of advancing that leads us to believe that he has made peace with his past and that he advances in full possession of his abilities.
