The Palestinian Diet was celebrated this Friday at the Latin American Medical School (ELAM) to reaffirm the decision of this heroic people to continue the struggle for their legitimate rights, a cause that enjoys the firm solidarity of Cuba.

Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), paid tribute to the resistance and struggle of the Palestinians, recalling March 30, 1976, when there were massive protests against the Israeli occupation and the expropriation of thousands of hectares, leaving a balance of six murdered young people.

How many more Palestinians must lose their lands and homes, how many more their freedom, how many more lives will be destroyed forever as a result of Zionism’s will to expand and colonize?

In these times, which require the efforts of all humanity to bring about peace, the people of Palestine are compelled to continue their struggle against Zionist colonization and the plundering of lands that have been taken from them for 46 long years, he added .

“More than ever, Palestine needs the solidarity of the international community and justice for the crimes committed against its people,” he said.

At the ceremony, Palestinian Ambassador Akram Samhan strongly condemned Israel’s crimes and ratified the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state; He made clear the decision to continue the fight to defend the country and thanked Cuba for its historical solidarity.

The Cuban United Nations Association also expressed its strong opposition to the Israeli occupation and its violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people; International law and UN resolutions.

As part of the commemoration, Palestinian ELAM students planted plants for the date, a traditional symbol of hope and the rights of suffering people.

Miriam Morales of the CCPCC’s International Relations Department; Norma Goicochea, President of ACNU, Damodar Peña Penton, Academic Vice-Chancellor of ELAM, representatives of MINREX and members of the diplomatic corps attended the commemoration.
