On the second anniversary of the Village de Dieu tragedy on March 12, 2021, in which five agents from the Senk segonn (Five Seconds) gang were tortured and killed, the platform published a report, criticizing that since then a total of 103 officers had been lost her life.
According to the register, 31 police officers were killed in 2021, 54 in the past year and 18 in the first month of 2023 alone.
“Since the murder of these five PNH (Haiti National Police) agents in Village de Dieu, the gang has had carte blanche to assassinate police officers and the populace, thereby increasing their dominance,” the organization lamented.
He also criticized the authorities’ failure to provide explanations to the population or issue administrative sanctions against the high command of the police institution responsible for what they saw as the slaughter.
In addition to the events in Village de Dieu, the Cardh also condemned the deaths of officers in the communes of Cité Soleil, Croix des Bouquets and more recently the massacre of seven police officers in Liancourt which sparked violent union protests.
Also among the victims are the Director of the Police Academy, Rigaud Harington, and the Chief Inspector of Croix des Bouquets, Evagelot Bact.
In this sense, he encouraged the General Directorate of the PNH to face up to its responsibilities and bring the perpetrators of the crimes to justice.
