Pascale Ferrier has been accused of trying to send a letter containing ricin, a highly toxic herbicide, to former US President Donald Trump.
“We hope this resolution will serve as a warning that using our mail system to send a toxic substance and other such threats will cost you your liberty for many years to come,” said Matthew Mr. Graves, District Attorney for the District of Columbia
Ferrier will serve 262 months in prison if the court accepts that agreement next April.
The US Secret Service discovered the poisoned letter in the mail sorting room of the White House on the morning of September 18, 2020, a few weeks before the presidential election.
Ferrier had also sent eight similar letters to federal agencies in Texas.
Six of these were reportedly addressed to people working at a Texas detention center where Ferrier was being held in 2019. These letters were reportedly sent on September 15 and 16, 2020.
Ms Ferrier was arrested a few days later as she attempted to cross the US border by land from Ontario. She was then in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, nearly 300 rounds of ammunition, a stun gun, two knives, a baton and bear repellant.
She then explained her intentions to customs officials herself, claiming she was “wanted by the FBI for the letters containing the ricin,” FBI Special Agent Jonathan Preston’s affidavit said after his arrest.
His fingerprints had been identified on some letters posted in Texas, and calligraphic analysis had confirmed that the handwriting matched Ferrier’s in custody.
Ricin had also been found on a pestle and mortar at his residence in Saint-Hubert on Montreal’s south coast.
Last year our Bureau of Investigation revealed that Pascale Ferrier had been radicalized by far-left pro-immigration movements, including on social media.
“Withdraw your candidacy for the elections. I made a gift that will inspire you to do this. The gift is in this letter. If it doesn’t work, I’ll find a better recipe for another poison, or maybe I’ll use my guns when I can come,” she wrote in her letter to Donald Trump.
She also called the former President of the United States “an ugly tyrannical clown”.
FBI investigations have shown that on September 9, 2020, Ferrier used the same words on social media Twitter and Facebook, but added this note: #killTrump.
