More than 50 people have been hospitalized after a “hazardous materials incident” at Sharp Services' drug packaging plant in Pennsylvania

At least 52 people have been hospitalized after a “hazardous goods incident” at a drug packaging plant in Pennsylvania.

Patients reported nausea, vomiting and headaches after a “chemical smell” wafted through part of the facility.

The incident occurred at Sharp Services at 7451 Keebler Way in Upper Macungie Township. The company's website says the facility will be used for packaging and distributing pharmaceuticals.

Lt. Pete Nickischer of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department said hazmat squads were still working to determine the cause of the incident Friday afternoon.
