More than 700 federal police officers will be on security duty at Lula’s inauguration

The Federal Police will be the primary organ at the inauguration ceremony of Presidentelect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on January 1, 2023. The event is already planned to ensure that there are no incidents. More than 700 intermediaries will be active in the federal capital.

The security program covers the entire Esplanada dos Ministérios region, as well as the hotel sector where several foreign delegations will stay and embassies, which will receive representatives of other nations.

According to sources heard through the R7, the PF will bring in agents from other states to bolster support. The idea of using agents who had recently graduated from the National Police Academy was evaluated but did not move forward due to the complexity of the event.

The US delegation is expected to occupy 200 hotel rooms. In this case, in addition to the federal police, agents from American security and investigative authorities are also active in the security system. Antidrone systems will be activated in the Esplanada area and any unauthorized devices approaching the Praça dos Três Poderes will be shot down.

Elite snipers will be stationed on ministry buildings and plainclothes agents will roam the public to monitor the movement. Cordons will be erected on the Esplanade from the level of the Cathedral to the Planalto Palace, operated by military police and patrolled by federal agencies.

Vehicle entry on the streets leading to Praça dos Três Poderes is prohibited and the public cannot enter the event area with items that may pose a security risk, such as B. Knives, flag handles and other paraphernalia.

At previous inaugural events, security was centered on the Institutional Security Office (GSI). However, this time the position will play a secondary role and the PF will be responsible for most security maintenance activities at the event.
