Mexican authorities arrested more than 80 Cuban migrants traveling irregularly through the area on two buses on Saturday.
According to the local media report, one of the vehicles was spotted by security forces at a police checkpoint in Campeche state, leading to a chase after the driver tried to stop despite officers’ requests.
After their capture, five coyotes, in addition to the migrants, were arrested and made available to Aztec prosecutors, who were charged with the crime of human trafficking.

On that bus was a group of 40 people, mostly Cuban migrants, trying to reach the United States, fleeing the misery imposed by the Castro regime in the largest of the Antilles.
In the other operation, a total of 42 Cuban migrants were secured by the uniformed officers. On that occasion, the bus they were traveling in would have easily crossed one of the police checkpoints, but they were later intercepted en route, specifically at Champotón, also in Campeche.
The arrest came after officers asked travelers for documents proving their stay in the country, which, as is usual in such cases, was impossible.
It is worth noting that the Cuban migrants and everyone involved in these two events were taken to the headquarters of the Secretariat for Citizen Protection and Security, where they underwent medical tests.
Likewise, they remained at the disposal of the National Institute of Migration of Mexico, which immediately began the process of issuing them a humanitarian card, allowing them to continue their journey to the lands of freedom.
