More than SIX in 10 Americans believe Biden handled classified documents “inappropriately,” says a new poll after the DOJ found another batch of records at his Wilmington home
- New poll shows majority of Americans disapprove of classified information issue
- It comes days after President Joe Biden said he has no regrets
- Other classified documents were found at Biden’s Wilmington residence on Saturday
A majority of Americans believe President Joe Biden has treated classified documents “inappropriately,” a new poll showed Sunday.
It comes a day after Biden’s personal attorney announced that another six documents, some with secret markings, were recovered from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday.
According to CBS News, about 25 to 30 classified pages of Biden’s private property have been discovered since that discovery.
According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted Jan. 20-21, 64 percent of US adults viewed the matter with disapproval.
Only 34 percent of respondents said Biden handled confidential documents appropriately.
President Joe Biden is facing increasing scrutiny for his handling of classified documents
Biden was hammered by Republican critics for insisting he had “no regrets” on the matter late last week.
But while Sunday’s poll suggests it cast Biden in a bad light for most Americans, it’s a smaller segment of people than those who take a dim view of Donald Trump’s classified documents debacle.
Trump’s months of back-and-forth with the National Archives and later the Justice Department culminated in an FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago property last August.
More than 300 classified files were found at the Palm Beach property, according to the New York Times.
77 percent of respondents said Trump’s handling of classified documents was inappropriate.
Less than a quarter – 22 percent – believed he handled the matter appropriately.
Both have appointed special attorneys to oversee their cases.
Former US attorney Robert Hur was tapped to take over Bidens this month, while Jack Smith – a former war crimes prosecutor in The Hague – ran against Trump in November.
In terms of issues facing the country, Biden is still grappling with the same lackluster approval ratings he’s seen for much of his tenure.
38 percent of respondents said they support his handling of the economy, while 60 percent said the opposite.
Likewise, only 31 percent agree with how Biden is handling today’s inflation rates.
Biden’s border policy has also come under fire, with nearly seven in 10 people disapproving of how he is handling the migrant crisis.
