Moroccan netizens on Friday (April 29) urged authorities to prosecute a woman who published a video in which she incited her dog to kill a kitten, which was shown lifeless and its neck pulled at the end of the recording .

The video went viral and sparked an outcry on social media. We hear a woman urging her dog to kill a kitten: ‘It’s ugly, you don’t want it, do you? I don’t want it either, I don’t like it.” Then we see the small lifeless animal being dragged by the neck by its dog. “You killed him, you don’t know where to start (to eat the kitten) ?” she said. According to local media, the video was posted to her Instagram account by this young Moroccan woman. The video was shot in the city of Fez (centre).

The hashtag “cat killer jail” has gone viral on social media over the past two days, with many netizens calling for the woman to be sued. “When do we start enforcing the law against those who abuse animals?” asked a user on Twitter. The Moroccan penal code punishes “anyone who kills or maims any domestic animal without necessity (…)” with a prison sentence of two to six months.
