But what appears to be a murdersuicide case actually has some unclear features and all leads remain open. Gazprombank is one of the main channels for Russian oil and gas payments that is currently in the world spotlight: the 51yearold had officially left it, although according to many he maintained some connections. Avayev, a multimillionaire from his construction business, was also deputy head of a large administrative department of the Putin Kremlin.
The bodies of Avayev, della Mrs. Elena and the little one Maria were found by the eldest daughter of 26, Anastasia, in alarm because he could not communicate with his family: all three had gunshot wounds, shots from one of the guns (he had at least 13 in the apartment), which belonged to Avayev himself. And there are those who, among the testimonies of neighbors reported by the Daily Mail, hypothesized that the affair could be related to a financial crisis following the tightening of Western sanctions: “Perhaps he was overwhelmed with debt. Everyone is depressed, some are ready to take extreme measures,” said one condominium, speaking candidly about the difficult economic situation the country is in. But even the trace of jealousy is not excluded with rumors that speak of a possible relationship between the wife and the driver of the longfired banker. The words of another neighbor raise doubts about a possible murder: “She had no reason for it. He was rich, intelligent. It is not possible that such a man can kill. Maybe Avayev and his family were killed”.
