Mother Nature is not kind to the agricultural producers this year. The Quebec region broke a rainfall record on Tuesday and fields suffered.
Some farmers have lost almost all of their crops, resulting in significant financial losses.

A total of 104 millimeters of rain usually falls in August. But this summer, 122 millimeters of water fell earlier than in nine days.
According to Jean-Julien Plante, a farmer on the Île d’Orléans, the future lies in the umbrella huts protecting his raspberries.
“These shelters protected us from the 108 millimeters of water we had yesterday. The main advantage is that it protects against rain but also allows the production season to be extended.”

It is also a way of adapting to climate change, says the farmer.
“What we are seeing now is just the beginning. “You have to learn to adapt,” he added.
