A 26-year-old mother of two has died during Brazilian butt lift and breast implant surgery after an unlicensed doctor gave her anesthesia and she never woke up.

Jaynisha ‘Jayla’ Williams went under the knife on October 20, 2021 for two cosmetic procedures performed by the Best U Now Cosmetic Surgery Center in Plantation, Florida.

Throughout the procedure, William’s mother, Latoshia Leggett, was reassured by medical staff that her daughter was fine, but became concerned when she saw other patients being discharged but not Williams.

When she heard a siren, she panicked and then learned that her daughter was being taken to Plantation General Hospital. When she wanted to know what was going on, she received the terrible news that her daughter had died.

The grieving mother, who flew in from California to help her daughter after surgery, was traumatized. Leggett told NBC6 Miami, “They politely grabbed me and said, ‘Your daughter is dead.’

The Broward Medical Examiner’s Office stated: “The procedure has been completed, but [Jayla] never woke up from anesthesia,” the news outlet reported.

Williams’ cause of death is listed as “undetermined,” according to the coroner’s report.

In a bombshell revelation, it was later revealed that the surgery center’s doctor-designate claimed he allowed a doctor who wasn’t qualified to administer the anesthesia to sedate Williams, NBC6 reported.

The unlicensed doctor was identified as Dr. Identifies Millicent Muir, an OB-GYN barred from practicing this specialty due to an unrelated complaint. She was the doctor who administered the anesthesia, the news outlet reported

According to the report, Best U Now has a number of anesthesia providers on record, but Muir is not listed as one of them. State records list her as “Rescue Personnel.”

The Florida Department of Health filed administrative complaints against Best U Now, which is licensed under Serenity Capital Investments LLC, and Dr. John Edward Nees as the designated physician for this surgical center.

In the complaint, they alleged that the center allowed a doctor who was not a qualified anesthesia provider to sedate Williams.

dr Muir, who declined to appear on camera, told NBC6 that she’s taken some anesthesiology classes, but didn’t give details.

The Williams family told NBC that no one from the operations center has contacted them as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

Leggett choked back tears and said, “It’s hard ma’am, it’s hard.”
