Mother of two stabbed by sex offender while fleeing with aristocrat, tells of her ordeal – Chron

The victim of a convicted rapist, who is now on the run with his aristocratic partner and their baby, told how he threatened to kill their sleeping children during a four-hour attack in 1989.

The mother of two was held captive with pruning shears and a kitchen knife during the burglary.

And she has now urged police to track down Mark Gordon, 48, and his partner Constance Marten, 35, who fled with their secret day-old baby two weeks ago.

But their car burst into flames on the M61 near Bolton on January 5 and they have since traveled to Liverpool and then Harwich in Essex, Colchester and east London. The baby did not receive any medical care, it is assumed.

Gordon, of Birmingham, was 14 at the time of the attack and 16 when he was sentenced to 40 years for breaking into his neighbor’s home in Florida, where he lived with his family.

He broke through a bathroom window with hedge trimmers and a knife, pounced on the 30-year-old and threatened to kill her two children who were sleeping in the next room.

The victim, now 64, told the Mail anonymously: “I came out of my room and he told me not to scream or he would kill my children.

“It was over four hours.

“He’s been watching me from different places for months and he planned it really well.”

Over the next four and a half hours, Gordon forced her into a series of sexual acts while wearing a nylon stocking to disguise his identity.

She said: “I’ve had post-traumatic stress disorder my whole life.

“After that happened, it was like my life stopped. I lost everything.

“I lost my home because there was nothing I could do or sell. I just wasn’t even there emotionally.

“I couldn’t function. I couldn’t think.’

Gordon fled the scene after the attack on April 29, 1989, but within weeks he struck again, breaking into a second neighbor’s home.

She recalled: “There was another neighbor of ours and three weeks after he was in our house he went to her house and broke in.

“This time he expected the man to be gone and it wasn’t him who saved the woman’s life.

‘He [had] took a knife and put a knife on each bedroom door.’

The homeowner in the second raid, Patrick Nash, today recounted waking up to find Gordon standing in his bedroom at around 7am on May 21, 1989, armed with a shovel.

He said: “I wasn’t supposed to be home in the morning when this happened, I was supposed to leave before sunrise.

“My wife wakes up and screams. I want to get up and am hit in the head with a shovel. Miraculously, I was able to chase him out of the house. It was just a reflex. I always sleep in the position closest to the door.

“He had taken silverware and spread it around the house so he would have access to guns. My son was a toddler at the time and he was in the room next to us.’

Gordon hit Mr Nash around the head with the heavy shovel, leaving him with serious head injuries before fleeing the scene.

US police finally caught up with him a month later, on June 13, 1989, when he confessed to both assaults and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

In 2010, after serving half his sentence, he was deported to the UK and placed on the sex offenders register.

Gordon subsequently entered into a relationship with Miss Marten, who severed all ties with her friends and aristocratic family associated with the royals.

It comes as Miss Marten’s father Napier, a former page boy to the late Queen, said he and his family were “deeply concerned” for the well-being of his “dear” daughter and had urged her to come home.
