A day after undergoing another operation, Luciano Szafir, 53, appeared in hospital in a photo posted by the actor’s mother, Beth Szafir, on Thursday afternoon. “The operation was a success,” she captioned, accompanied by her son’s friends.
Luciano Szafir underwent a total hip arthroplasty last Wednesday morning the 2nd. The procedure was carried out because of advanced arthrosis and lasted about an hour and a half. The goal is for him to regain the joint in the region. Szafir is hospitalized at Hospital 9 de Julho in São Paulo and was due to be discharged on Friday.
“Everything went well and he should be released tomorrow,” Luhanna, Szafir’s wife, told EXTRA.
The statement, sent by the actor’s council, detailed the operation he performed.
“The patient had advanced arthrosis that caused a lot of pain and limitations in the hip. During surgery, the worn surface is removed and replaced with a prosthesis. In Luciano’s case, a pottery was used. We replaced them on the right side, on the 30th we’ll do it on the left,” explained orthopedist Marcelo Godoi Cavalheiro.
