Mourning in the world of dance, culture and art for the loss of the great Catanian choreographer and dancer Silvana Lo Giudice. The funeral will take place on Tuesday December 27 at 11 a.m. at the Church of San Pietro e Paolo in Catania, Via Siena 1.

A sadness that affects the city of Catania, where the artist was known and respected for her professionalism and talent, but also loved for her human qualities, her kindness and her sense of welcome. The teacher Silvana Lo Giudice, today director of the old and renowned dance school TBM Lo Giudice and choreographer of extremely successful musicals and shows, passed away yesterday afternoon. Among her last works, in chronological order, she signed the choreographies of the successful musical Pipino Il Breve of the Teatro della Città di Catania, for which she was a professional, artistic and human pillar together with her husband Orazio Torrisi and their daughters.

Daughter of art – her mother Carla directed one of the most important and oldest dance schools in Sicily – after graduating from the National Academy of Dance in Rome, she joined the ballet corps of the Teatro Massimo Bellini and over time interpreted solo roles and prima ballerina. Also teacher Lo Giudice taught dance first in the School of Dramatic Art of the Teatro Stabile in Catania and since 2018 with the students of the professional course of the Viagrandestudios. As a choreographer she has been able to mark the last decades in various Italian theaters, prose and opera with directors such as Armando Pugliese, Luca Verdone, Roberto Laganà, Tony Cucchiara, Walter Pagliaro, Giuseppe Dipasquale, Michele Mirabella. His most important works include “Capuleti e Montecchi” for the Rome Opera, “Trachinie” for Inda at the Greek Theater of Syracuse, Rigoletto for Bellini at the Ancient Theater of Taormina with Domingo. During her brilliant career she has been awarded numerous prestigious prizes, most recently the Danzuso Prize.
