In the afternoon of this Thursday (18), the civilian police were supposed to hear the federal deputy Felipe Becari (União Brasil) at the police station for investigations into crimes against public administration in São Paulo. The politician has been suspected of embezzlement since January.

The investigation was launched after anonymous information was leaked to the State Ministry when Becari was still a city councilor in the capital, São Paulo. The crime of embezzlement provided for in the Criminal Code occurs when a public official appropriates money or goods that he owns because of his position. The penalty is 2 to 12 years in prison and a fine.

O g1 sought the defense of the deputy, who put forward a position and denied that Felipe “committed any unlawful conduct” (see below in full). Regarding the trip, Carla Diaz’s defense explained to the g1 that the actress paid for all expenses through partnerships with brands.

On January 16, the complaint pointed out that Becari had diverted public funds for his own benefit and that of consultants who do not regularly serve on the São Paulo City Council. According to the anonymous statement, footage of animal rescues in abusive situations was taken and posted on social media for “only benefit”.

Another anonymous rally to the MP on Jan. 4 this year mentioned exBBB and actress Carla Diaz, the MP’s fiancé, and an institute on Becari’s behalf. According to the 4th Criminal Justice Prosecutor’s Office document attached to the same embezzlement investigation, “Carla struggles with irregular raffles and enjoys money raised through the PIX and the raffle.”

Testifying at the 2020 city council election, Becari said he had assets of R$64,000, including a Tiggo and a Subaru. As a parliamentarian, the monthly net salary was R$ 14,000.

In 2022, the accounting for the federal election showed that the goods presented had a value of R$663,574.05. He claimed he had a R$582,000 house in Interlagos in São Paulo’s South Zone, the cars from the last election and R$3,000 in a bank account.

In November 2022, Becari bought Carla Diaz a diamond engagement ring. That same month, the pair traveled around Europe, staying in luxury hotels including a historic 10thcentury castle. The overnight prices are between 1,000 and 7,000 R$.

The anonymous complaint called for the case to be investigated for embezzlement, illicit enrichment, money laundering, abuse of economic power and use of animals for enrichment.

Prints, links, product sweepstakes videos, raffles, and PIX requests were submitted for research.

Last week, the city council posted a video on his Instagram profile celebrating 100 days in office as a deputy. He emphasized that the aim of his mandate is to “work hard, talk little and repay as many people as have the trust that has been placed in me.” A follower mentioned the complaint. Felipe replied that Wednesday afternoon (17): “Of course it is.”

On April 10, the City Council released video showing images of dogs under the structure of a kennel that had been knocked down by rain. In the caption, a PIX key in the name of an action to contribute to late spending.

What does Becari’s defense say?

“As has already been proven, Felipe has been the target of completely false and categorically criminal messages that have been circulated on social networks and submitted to the authorities with the sole aim of harming him and damaging his image and relationship.”

With this in mind, Felipe has since taken all appropriate legal action to hold those involved accountable and is actively working with authorities to discover the truth.

In this sense, the deputy even filed a criminal complaint for committing a crime against honor and applied for the initiation of preliminary proceedings to establish that the crime of persecution had been committed.

It should also be noted that several procedures have already been duly initiated against the MP, insofar as, as already mentioned, these are procedures initiated on the basis of completely false news and without supporting documents.

Nonetheless, and knowing that truth will prevail, MP Felipe Becari continues to work together and remains at the service of justice.”

Kennel demands compensation

Another lawsuit is pending in the Cotia 3rd Civil Court, seeking payment of BRL22,000 to a temporary home that specializes in rescuing endangered dogs.

According to the lawsuit, in December 2020, the company was asked to provide temporary housing for food, shelter and first aid to the animals rescued by Becari for a previously adjusted amount.

For a while, payments were made by invoice message. However, payments stopped and the home began paying for staff, medicines and animal feed. The politician’s defense did not appear.

In a communication to g1, MP Felipe Becari’s team was aware of the proposed action and is taking all appropriate measures to restore the truth, provided that the audio published concerns values that have already been duly clarified.
