Already on February 27, 2022, the destruction of the largest cargo plane in the world, the Antonov An-225, was reported. After the Russian troops withdrew, the destruction was now visible.
On Saturday, Russian troops in northern Ukraine continued their withdrawal. Ukrainian troops were stationed at the entrance to Antonov Airport in the Kiev suburb of Hostomel. They demonstrated control of the airstrip that Russia tried to invade in the early days of the war.

At the scene was the Antonov An-225 Mriya, one of the largest planes ever built, destroyed in a hangar, riddled with holes from the Russian attack in February.

“The Russians couldn’t build such an aircraft, so they destroyed it,” said Alexander Merkuzhev, mayor of the Kiev suburb of Irpin. Some of the fiercest battles of the war took place at Irpin. Merkuzhev said Russian troops left behind many bodies, destroyed many buildings and mined many places.
