TARRYTOWN — A weather-related mudslide in the Westchester County area has disrupted service on Metro-North and Amtrak’s Hudson Line, rail authorities said Saturday.

Metro-North said service between Croton-Harmon and “further south to Tarrytown” has been suspended. The extent of the damage and the expected time to return to normal operations were not specified and could not be immediately determined.

“Hudson Line service will be reduced to hourly in both directions between Grand Central and Tarrytown,” the statement said shortly before 11:30 a.m. “We are working to secure an extremely limited number of buses between Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon, but strongly encourage the use of the Bee-Line buses to and from the Harlem Line instead.”

Amtrak’s advisory affects several lines between Albany and New York City “due to excessive debris blocking tracks due to severe weather along the route.” Train 280 has been grounded at Albany-Rensselaer, while train 238 has been canceled and other trains are experiencing service disruptions this afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the Tarrytown area is expected to rain until at least 2 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. The forecast for Saturday evening is for a 30 percent chance of rain before 7 p.m. The wind will be gusty.
