The Laval Police Service (SPL) reports that the suspect appeared at the Laval courthouse last Friday on charges of manslaughter. He remains in custody and will return to court on January 11.

The SPL recalls that at around 7:25 a.m. on November 29, employees of a tree trimming company found a lifeless man on the ground. SPL investigators quickly determined that the death had been caused by a criminal act.

Criminal investigators were able to determine that the suspect had broken into the store to steal metals and that the victim had caught him in the act. An argument then allegedly occurred between the two people, which ended in the victim's death.

The Laval police report that several squads were called to assist investigators and arrest the suspect, namely the Equinoxe squad, the Tactical Intervention Group, forensic identification technicians and Gendarmerie patrol officers.
