Coroner Géhane Kamel will be assigned to shed light on the events leading up to the killings of André Lemieux, Mohamed Belhaj and Alex Levis-Crevier, three men who were shot dead without cause on August 2 and 3, the bureau said of the coroner on Monday.
Recall that the main suspect in this case, Abdulla Shaikh, was also killed in a shootout with police on Wednesday night.
Abdulla Shaikh, 26, was known to police and psychiatric circles for his previous run-ins with the law. The man, who suffered from schizophrenia in particular, was considered dangerous, which did not prevent his conditional release last March.
“The hearings will allow all interested persons to comment on the circumstances of these deaths in order to analyze all contributing factors and to propose this in view of possible solutions to better protect human life,” the Coroner’s Office argued.
