Her lifeless body was discovered in a drain in a tunnel on the scenic Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, after she was reported missing Saturday night.

“We just need time…I need time.” It’s only been 4 days since we got the terrible news. I ask you, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, to have pity on us and allow us to do this. ‘

Morin began the letter by thanking people for the “overflowing love and support” and “the global community mourning with me my little daughter.”

She also noted that the family is planning a “celebration of life” service and a 5K walk/run in her honor, as Rachel was an “enthusiastic runner.”

The grieving mother ended the letter with a simple thank you note, signing it “Rachel’s mother.”

Mother of five, Morin, disappeared around 6 p.m. Saturday, August 5, leaving her home to hike the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air, Maryland.

It’s unclear who she was traveling with, but her new boyfriend Richard Tobin, 27, reported her missing.

The couple made their relationship official on social media just four days earlier.

The coroner has not yet revealed how Morin died, but a murder investigation has been launched. Her family said she did not leave “voluntarily” and that her death was “not an accident”.

Local Michael Gabriszeski had joined the search for the missing mother along with his stepdaughter Cecilia – who was friends with Morin – and her boyfriend Evan when he claimed he stumbled upon her remains on Sunday.

In an interview with , Gabriszeski, a Native American tracker, said the couple decided to check out two drainage tunnels on the Hartford County hiking trail after noticing “disruptions” in the ground near the trail where the fitness fan had made an attack go for a walk that night.

“Cecilia was the first person to see the body,” he claimed. “She was hyperventilating really, really badly. And then the police asked her to sit down.

“As she sat down, she realized she was sitting in a large pool of blood.”

“She was lying completely naked on her back with brutal head trauma … it appeared as if her head had been smashed in with a rock.”

“There was a 15 to 20 foot trail of blood.” So it looked like she had been punched and dragged into that position.”

“It looked like (the killer) was trying to erase her identity,” added the 48-year-old.

“The right side of her face was gone.”
