The show “La Géante” will be shown next summer at the Desjardins Cultural Center in Joliette and highlights the story of Rose Ouellette through the ages. We keep the image of La Poune: a very small, older lady, still full of enthusiasm, but was only 19 years old when her career as an actress began.
The “freshness” of Gabrielle Fontaine, “her humor, her vivacity, her great talent as an actress-singer and her redhead make her the ideal artist to play our national poune,” argues the team of the Théâtre de l’Oeil Ouvert and Encore Show, in a press release.
The show will be created by Geneviève Beaudet (author, lyricist, ideator) and Audrey Thériault (composer), while Jade Bruneau will direct. It was the latter who staged the musical theaters Belmont, inspired by the work of Diane Dufresne, and La Corriveau – La soif des corbels.
The cast also includes Simon Fréchette-Daoust, Stéphanie Arav, José Dufour, Philippe Robert, Jade Bruneau, Christian Laporte and Rita Tabbakh.
