The “collective overdose” that ended the lives of José “Luis” Vasquez, rocker of the Soft Moon Project, DJ Silent Servant and his wife Simone Ling has attracted attention. The three were found dead in a loft in Los Angeles, US, after consuming fentanyl, an opioid 50 times more powerful than morphine.

According to the Los Angeles Times, local police were called by the musician's wife to conduct a preventative inspection of the property. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the three lifeless bodies.

The medical examiner in charge of the case did not release a cause of death, but the case is being investigated for a possible fentanyl overdose. This information was collected after paraphernalia typical of drug use was found in the DJ's loft.

José “Luis” Vasquez released five albums with the Soft Moon project, with whom he would travel to shows and festivals next month, and toured with bands such as Depeche Mode, Interpol and Mogwai. A post on his Instagram confirmed the death: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend Luis Vasquez.”

“I am devastated to learn of the death of Juan, Silent Servant + Luis, Soft Moon. Two Latin artists whose legacies and contributions to techno, darkwave and industrial were embodied by this very fact. We mourn their losses today and every day,” lamented Rachel Grace Almeida of music magazine Crack.
