For several years now, the “Canes” have occasionally worn a green version of the jersey of the club formerly based in Hartford. This time the Carolina team opted for the white version of the vest.

Players will also wear long green pants during warm-ups for the occasion.

The Whalers existed from 1972 to 1997 and initially played in the World Hockey Association. They joined the National League in 1979 when it united four teams from their rivals. In 1997, the franchise moved to Raleigh and became the Hurricanes.

The “Canes” will meet the New Jersey Devils in the evening and will wear their new jersey there.
