Anna Chlumsky is back in the spotlight with her role in the Netflix original series Inventing Anna. This mini-series produced by Shondaland is hugely popular on streamers. Chlumsky is known for her roles in Veep and the 1991 film My Girlfriend.
The series was created and produced by Shonda Rhimes and was inspired by Anna Sorokina’s short story and Jessica Pressler’s article “How Anna Delvey Scammed New York Party People”. Sorokina came to the US, changed her name to Delvi, posed as an heiress of German descent, and swindled money from many of the New York elite.
Chlumsky portrays Vivian Kent, a fictionalized version of Pressler, who does investigative journalism about how Delvey swindled so many people out of so much money. She interviews Delvey, her friends and enemies, to unravel the tangled story and find out if Anna is the real heiress or not.
If you haven’t watched this series yet, I highly recommend you do!
Is my girlfriend on Netflix?
Fans of Wada Sultenfuss Chlumsky from My Girl are wondering if they can stream this movie on Netflix. The answer is YES!
This coming-of-age story evokes fond memories for kids in the 90s. Chlumsky co-starred with Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Macaulay Culkin, Richard Masur and Griffin Dunn.
The story follows Wada, an 11-year-old girl who grew up in the early 70s. She and her father live at the city funeral home run by her father. Due to her upbringing, she is obsessed with death and has become a hypochondriac as a result.
She spends the summer with her best friend Thomas J., a boy who is teased at school because he is allergic to everything, and attends a poetry class taught by her teacher Mr. Bixler, with whom she has a crush.
The film shows how Vada grows up without a mother, experiences first loves, friendships and, in the end, tragedy. Great movie, sad but sweet.
