Leandro Hassum will take over prime time entertainment on Globo starting today at 2:25 p.m., directing the reality show “Minha Mãe Cozinha Melhor Que a Sua”, accompanied by judges Paola Carosella and João Diamante.
At the launch of Boninho’s main attraction, the comedian and presenter spoke about the criticisms and challenges of taking part in a new project that debuts on open television’s biggest audience battle of the week.
I’ve never made a program for criticism, I make it for the public. I care about the audience and whether the audience enjoys it. We don’t agree anywhere. For example, there will always be one person who thinks a cake is awful and another who thinks the most delicious thing in the world.
Hassum continues: “Beats will always come, we don’t agree on that. We need to know who we’re doing this for, who our audience is. And I know it’s the one who sits in front of the TV on Sundays and wants to have fun and get emotional and maybe learn a little cooking.”
“A sting in the ear is unbearable”
Used to attractions where he’s more free on set, Hassum quite candidly admits what bothers him the most about taping the Globo reality show:
have a point [no ouvido] it is unbearable. And look what she [diretores] They’re wonderful, they don’t talk all the time. But for me it is something new to work with the point. Every once in a while you’re here… presenting… and the person talks and talks in your ear.
Hassum lists his challenges in the new Globo program:
“You have to play, but you mustn’t stand in the way of your competitors. You have to be fun, light and familiar. There are multiple challenges and I love to challenge myself. Whether on TV, in the theater or dubbing, direct and now present a program. You have to look at the teleprompter, rely on the judges, everything is a challenge.”

Hassum’s indomitable glory
During the show’s press briefing, Hassum was asked about his reputation as “indomitable,” a person who is difficult to deal with. The actor claims it’s not quite like that, but that he often has to be trimmed by the director.
This thing that I’m a quicksilver isn’t like that. I like to improvise, I leave the text as it is, I do it a lot because that’s when the joke comes to mind. But for all this I need to be guided. I can only improvise and play around with something that already exists.
Hassum says calling him “irrepressible” is a huge behindthescenes mess:
I’m an extremely teachable and tame guy. But I’d rather deliver too much and get cut than wait for directions. That sometimes sounds like improvisation. I’m not unruly, I’m cooperative, and sometimes that cooperation needs to be curtailed.
