The exodus of the Armenians

A flood of people is currently fleeing towards Armenia. In fact, thousands of Armenians have left Nagorno-Karabakh, an enclave on Azerbaijani territory, after a violent military offensive last week in this disputed South Caucasus region that left hundreds of people dead, injured or missing. A mass exodus a few days after Azerbaijani soldiers’ lightning victory against the forces of the self-proclaimed rebel republic, despite Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev’s assurances that the rights of the remaining Armenians would be “guaranteed.”
