Nancy Dell'Olio looked stylish as she left her hotel in West London on Friday.

The Italian lawyer was picked up by her HR Carriages chauffeur in a £150,000 Mercedes limousine as she was seen for the first time since announcing her plans to reunite with her long-term partner Sven-Goran Eriksson following his cancer diagnosis.

The former England manager, 75, revealed last week he was suffering from terminal pancreatic cancer after secretly battling the inoperable cancer for a year.

Nancy, 62, who dated Sven for 10 years, spoke about his devastating diagnosis on Loose Women on Thursday and revealed she plans to see him on his birthday next month.

The star wrapped herself in a long black winter coat with leopard print fur lining and a turtleneck sweater.

Earlier this week Nancy appeared on Loose Women and revealed she had no idea Sven had “a year left to live at best”.

She confessed that she felt “very emotional” because although she found out he had cancer a year ago, she had no idea about his life prognosis.

Nancy told the jury: “I learned it a year ago. I knew it was serious. I was very happy that he decided to go public because he received so much support and I think he made the right decision.

“I was shocked to find out he was seriously ill, but I learned from the press that he only had a year. “I didn't know. It's so hard for me to come to terms with the idea that you only have a year. It's not yet 90 minutes. I believe in wonder.'

Nancy, who left her husband Giancarlo Massa to work as a coach, was a fixture at Sven's side and was seen with him at several tournaments.

The couple met in 1997 when he was manager at Roman club Lazio and Nancy came to England with him when he was appointed coach of the Three Lions and was with him for ten years.

The lawyer remained loyal to Sven despite his affairs with TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson and FA secretary Faria Alam. She has appeared on Strictly, Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity MasterChef.

The couple finally separated in August 2007.

Nancy, who cut a glamorous figure on the show with her bouncy hairdryer and red blazer, said she was in an airport in New York when she first heard that Sven had gone public with his diagnosis.

“I was one of only four people who were allowed to know.” He called from Italy and I signed the contract. I will come back tomorrow.'

Nancy described their relationship as “one of the two most important love stories in my life” and will try to see Sven next month for his birthday, which is February 5th.

She said: “I'll try to visit him, probably for his birthday.” It will stay forever, it's a part of my life.

“The public has been such a big part, we are in a way part of British history.” The past comes back into your present. Losing my mother was already a difficult time for me, so it is a very emotional time for me.”

Last week Sven revealed his prognosis and his determination to fight “as long as possible”.

He said: “Everyone understands that I have a disease that is not good.” Everyone suspects it is cancer, and it is. But I have to fight as long as I can.

When asked about the forecast, he told Swedish radio station P1 that he had “a year at best, a little less at worst, or maybe even longer at best.” You can't be completely sure. It's better not to think about it.

Sven collapsed after a 5km run last year and discovered he was seriously ill.

When he visited his doctors, it was discovered that he had suffered a stroke and also had cancer.

He said, “You don't know how long I had cancer, maybe a month or a year.”

'It is not good. Everyone suspected it was cancer, and it is. But I have to fight as long as I can.

“But you can trick your brain. See the positive in things, don’t wallow in adversity, because of course that’s the greatest adversity, but make something good out of it.”

In his illustrious managerial career, Sven has coached IFK Göteborg, Benfica, Roma, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Lazio, Manchester City and Leicester City.

He also managed Mexico, Ivory Coast and the Philippines.

But during his five years in charge of England, he became the most famous football manager in the world.

Between 2001 and 2006 he led the so-called “golden generation” of stars, including David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, but never won the major trophy expected.

He received his tragic diagnosis almost exactly 22 years after he resigned as Lazio coach earlier than expected to take up his coaching role with England.

The Swede had signed a five-year contract three months earlier to take over in the summer of 2001.

Eriksson said his Lazio team was “one of the best in the world” and he was probably right.

But the “once-in-a-lifetime” chance to manage England and the £3m salary that came with it proved too good to turn down.

She soon revived a long-failed England team. The team's stunning 5-1 victory over Germany sparked great optimism and flipped their 2002 World Cup qualifying group, although it took Beckham's last-minute free-kick against Greece to avoid a difficult play-off against Ukraine.

The intimate details of his affair with TV presenter and compatriot Ulrika dominated the front and back pages for weeks before Eriksson returned to his long-term partner Nancy.
