She has sold over 200 million records worldwide, with her most popular being the love song I Will Always Love You (1992), written by Dolly Parton.
Whitney tragically died in 2007 at the age of 48 after accidentally drowning in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was reported to be drug related.

The film is directed by Kasi Lemmons, who has worked on a number of acclaimed projects including Harriet (2019) and Eve’s Bayou (1997).
After being cast as Whitney, Naomi assured fans that she is “doing the work” necessary to prepare for the venture.
“I’m going to do my best because this woman – it sends chills down my spine how much she means to me, to the world, to black women, to African American women.
“I will do everything to ensure that she is properly represented,” she told Entertainment Tonight in May 2021.
I Wanna Dance with Somebody hits theaters on December 23.
