As her WWE tag team partner prepares for a likely return to the wrestling stage Wednesday in Japan, Naomi’s future is also becoming clearer: a return to WWE.
Our Bryan Alvarez reported Tuesday to Wrestling Observer Live that he feels Naomi will return to the company and not join NJPW alongside Sasha Banks.
“I think she’s going to come back to WWE because she’s almost certainly going to come back to WWE,” he said. He gave no return date or timetable.
Banks is scheduled to perform at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 tonight. Naomi is also reportedly in the country, as is WWE star Bayley, to support Banks.
Then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Banks and Naomi, left ahead of an episode of WWE Raw in May 2022 due to issues with their creative direction. Her status and potential return to WWE has been a point of discussion throughout the year, intensified after Vince McMahon resigned and Paul Levesque took over as creative director this summer as part of the new regime.
In early December, it was reported that NJPW Banks brought 17 to Wrestle Kingdom, but that the deal was not made through WWE. It is believed that she is currently a free agent.
