A mysterious computer problem means that the NASA team responsible for maintaining the Voyager 1 spacecraft is no longer able to communicate with the probe.

The system that manages the plane's flight data has reportedly gone into repeat mode as it keeps sending the same sequence of data, CNN reports.
Although the probe can still receive commands from Earth, it has not returned scientific data since November 14, when NASA officials became aware of the problem.
The cause of the computer error is not yet known as NASA teams work to gather more information to better understand the problem.
Voyager 1 reportedly had a similar problem in 1981, but according to NASA publicist Calla Cofield, this new error is not due to the same problem that occurred more than 40 years ago.
The device, which was launched in 1977, is now more than 24 billion kilometers from Earth.
A delay of more than 22 hours is required for the device to receive a command sent from the blue planet.
