Hockey fans will have another reason to be interested in the Kloten team’s activities in the Swiss National League, as it signed former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Nathan Beaulieu on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old veteran has signed with Habs contender David Reinbacher’s current team for the remainder of the season. Beaulieu had been released from his professional tryout with the Carolina Hurricanes a few weeks earlier and had not found a buyer in the National Hockey League (NHL).

His last presence on the Bettman circuit dates back to 2022-2023, when he appeared in 52 games for the Anaheim Ducks. He collected four assists and posted a -23 differential while playing for the worst team in the standings.
“Nathan is a very complete guard who has stood out in the NHL with his physical and consistent play,” Kloten general manager Larry Mitchell said in a press release on the website swisshockeynews.ch. However, he also has great offensive qualities, which he has demonstrated many times in the best ice hockey league in the world.
Reinbacher played three games for the club this year and scored one goal.
