Nathan Mackinnon was unable to add to the score and the Colorado Avalanche lost 5-3 to the Devils on Tuesday night in New Jersey.
It was the first time in 15 games that the star player did not collect a point in a game. During his winning streak, the 28-year-old ice hockey player collected 13 goals and 16 assists, for a total of 29 points.
The duel of the day ended in the final moments of the third period. With less than three minutes to play, John Marino broke the score to a 3-3 tie.
Other goal scorers for the winners were Jesper Bratt, Dawson Mercer, Chris Tierney and Erik Haula (empty net).
In the “Avs” camp, Samuel Girard, Cale Makar and Mikko Rantanen scored. Jonathan Drouin was involved in two of his successes.
The Quebecer reached the mark of 20 assists this season. He has now collected 30 points in 49 games.
