World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz had to work hard but eventually defeated No. 17 Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets 3-6 7-6(2) 7-6(3) in the third round on Thursday night in Toronto .

It took Alcaraz 2 hours and 38 hours to get his ticket to the quarterfinals. He also extends his winning streak to 14. He suffered his last setback on June 9 in the French Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic.
