At least that’s what ESPN reported on Saturday.

Williams, who was named NBA Coach of the Year at the end of the 2021-22 season, had two years left on his current contract. However, the creation of Phoenix would have suggested an arrangement to keep its services long-term.

Last season, the Suns led the standings with a 64-18 record. However, they were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks in seven games in the first round of the playoffs.

Last year, Williams led the Suns to the NBA Finals, where the Arizona club lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. Williams, 50, has been the Suns’ head coach since May 2019.
