Another attack rocked Israel on its Independence Day. Two assassins allegedly attacked bystanders in the city of Elad. There are dead and wounded.

The wave of terror in Israel does not stop. At least three people died in an attack in the city of Elad, near Tel Aviv. According to paramedics, there are at least four injured – including some seriously injured.

The attack took place on Israel’s 74th Independence Day. The majority of Elad’s residents are ultra-Orthodox Jews. In a first statement, the police spoke of an alleged terrorist attack. No information was provided on the identity of the authors. However, authorities are taking on two killers. One shot, another attacked passersby with an axe.

Roadblocks were set up in the area to stop criminals apparently on the run, according to police. A police helicopter follows a suspicious vehicle. According to media reports, police are concerned that the criminals may have escaped to the neighboring West Bank.

Tear gas on the Temple Mount

At noon, Israeli and Palestinian security forces clashed again on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Israeli police said they had repelled “dozens of protesters” who had already thrown “rocks and other objects” at security forces. According to the AFP news agency, police used tear gas and rubber bullets in front of the al-Aqsa mosque.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, two people were injured in the clashes. It was the first major outbreak of violence on the Temple Mount in about ten days. During the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan and the Jewish festival of Passover in April, there were several riots in Jerusalem, in which nearly 300 people were injured.

Many dead since March

Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have increased significantly recently. Since late March, 14 people have been killed in several attacks against Israelis. During Israeli security forces’ operations in the occupied West Bank, dozens of people were killed, including several alleged assassins. It is feared that this could further escalate the conflict in the Middle East.
