The event was successful and the historic center welcomed thousands of people from across the province. But there was also the case of closed front gates and haywire traffic
MESSINA – The music of Negramaro set Messina on fire on an evening, December 29th, that many will remember for a long-awaited and appreciated concert, but also for the large crowd that gathered in Piazza Duomo and its surroundings had gathered. Giuliano Sangiorgi sang all the historical pieces of the band that has passed through Messina several times, but never in vain and in the historic center. “Let’s go back to living” the singer shouted several times to the crowd, who applauded and sang with him the rich selection of songs interpreted by the Negramaro frontman.
Over two hours of concert
Thousands came from all parts of the province and from across the strait singing hits like “While everything flows”, “Clouds and sheet”, “3 minutes”, “Meraviglioso”, “Cade la rain with the leader of Negramaro” and “Estate,” to name just a few of Sangiorgi’s hits that chronicled the career years of one of the most prolific bands on the Italian scene. An appreciated concert that started promptly at 9pm and lasted about 2 hours.
The entrance gates closed
Since the afternoon, some fans have taken their positions under the stage and the crowd has come to fill not only the entire square but also the surrounding streets. So much so that many, trying to reach the area around the stage just as the concert began, were confronted with spades because the entrance gates were temporarily closed due to the high turnout. A story that has led many users to rant on social media, including on the page of Mayor Federico Basile, with comments under the photo taken with the band just before the concert begins. And many also complained about the chaos in the city, with the haywire road system contributing to the inconvenience in the northern part of the city due to the closed telegraph tunnel.
Negramaro success, now Silvester and then Alberto Urso
What remains, however, is the success of the event. The Negramaros brought thousands of people to Messina and pizzerias, rotisseries and bars took advantage in the hours leading up to the concert, with long queues already in the late afternoon when there was no activity. For the fans, it was a “race to dinner” to be eaten as quickly as possible and then conquer the best spot to sing songs with Giuliano Sangiorgi, take selfies and videos and experience the event with friends. A success that followed the Achille Lauro concert last July and that it is hoped will be repeated, perhaps already on January 4 with the final concert of the parties entrusted to Alberto Urso from Messina.
