After 15 years, journalist Nelson Motta left Globo. The cultural chronicler concluded a column on music and behavior that was shown in Jornal da Globo on Friday evening.

The farewell took place on Friday (29th) in the last issue of the Jornal da Globo of 2023. In an exclusive conversation with the Q5 This Saturday (30), Motta says he feels like he has achieved something and thanked viewers for the company since 2008.

“My contract was with Jornal da Globo and it ended. I was already very tired,” he said. According to Motta, the reasons for the end of the column in Jornal da Globo include the tightening of copyright law, which limited the use of a song in journalistic articles to six seconds.

His departure from Globo will not necessarily mean retirement, quite the opposite. “I’m going to do really cool things in other media. Wait for me (laughs),” he announced. The planned projects include a series of lectures on various topics.

“I will talk about creative writing, song lyrics, chronicles, cultural journalism, novels, stage musicals and writing in love and business relationships,” said the journalist.

“At the beginning of the year my new novel 'Corações de Papel', published by Record, is also coming out, and the theater musical I wrote about Tom Jobim is in production and should be published in the second half of 2024,” he concluded.

Nelson Motta made his debut at Jornal da Globo in November 2008 at the invitation of Erick Bretas, now managing director of Globoplay and then editorinchief of the news program.

Even when he was hospitalized during the Covid19 pandemic, Motta remained on the air with original columns.
