From December 24, the Italian airline Neos will include flights to the resort’s Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport Varaderoafter a two and a half year absence.
Liuba Quintero, head of the operations department of the flight terminal, informed PL that a plane from the airline, which is present at 71 destinations in different countries, will arrive on that day.
Neos flew to Matanzas Airport for the first time on December 25, 2015 and with the return to Varadero, the number of Cuban tourist destinations hosting the airline will increase by four, after its presence in Havana, Holguin and Cayo Largo del Sur, he said.
Quintero indicated that the Italian company will be the 15th to arrive at the airport, which receives Polish Lot, British Thompson, Russian Nordwind and others from Honduras, Germany and the Dominican Republic, among others.
With the return of Neos to Varadero, the flow of visitors from Italy, one of the most important issuance markets for Cuba in the high season from November to April, will increase.
Founded in 2001, Neos’ headquarters are in Somma Lombardo, with Milan-Malpensa as its main airport, from which weekly flights depart to major tourist destinations in Southern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, among others.
