In 2021, three out of four attacks hit with unprecedented malware

Worrying numbers and a growing trend. This was revealed by Yoroi in the annual report on the cybersecurity of Italian companies and institutions. “Phishing and spear phishing are the most adopted vectors in 2021 to start the attack chain.”

In the past year, the two major phenomena observed in relation to IT security were “double extortion and supply chain attacks.

The telemetry offered by the Yoroi platform allowed extracting a set of statistics on “zeroday malware” attacks, ie malware unknown to antivirus signatures, which accounts for 76% of zeroday malware threats. In this context, according to the report, phishing and spear phishing are the most commonly used vectors in 2021 to start the attack chain.
