Netanyahu resigns "Force" Response to attacks in Jerusalem for

A day after an attack outside a synagogue that killed seven people, a 13-year-old Palestinian man reportedly opened fire near the old city.

After two attacks in East Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a “strong” response. “Our response will be strong, swift and precise,” Netanyahu said late on Saturday ahead of an emergency security cabinet meeting. “We are not looking for an escalation, but we are prepared for any scenario,” Netanyahu said in television footage released by his office.

A day after a bloody attack outside a synagogue that left seven dead, violence between Israelis and Palestinians continued to escalate on Saturday. A 13-year-old Palestinian opened fire near the old city, police said, wounding a father and his son.

42 people arrested

On Friday night, after the start of the Jewish Sabbath, a Palestinian assailant opened fire outside a synagogue in east Jerusalem, killing seven people and wounding at least three before the 21-year-old was killed by police after a persecution.

According to their own statements, the police arrested 42 people for questioning on Saturday. Among them are family members of the killer, who came from East Jerusalem, as well as other residents of his neighborhood.

The attack in front of the synagogue came a day after an Israeli army raid on the Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin, in the north of the occupied West Bank, in which nine Palestinians were killed. According to the UN, it was the highest number of casualties in a single Israeli operation in the West Bank since the end of the Second Intifada, the Palestinian uprising from 2000 to 2005.
