Netflix fans are moved by a new romantic comedy that hit the platform on January 5th.
Thanks to the heartbreaking plot that deals with love, loss and friendship, the film managed to leave viewers warm but also “crying like a baby”.
It was a directorial debut for Dan Levy – son of Eugene Levy – who also starred in the production and wrote the screenplay.

Good Grief follows Marcus (Dan) as he grieves the sudden loss of his husband Oliver (Luke Evans) and his father, while his two best friends (Ruth Negga as Sophie and Himesh Patel as Thomas) help him on his journey of grief and acceptance a visit to Paris.
After a limited release in theaters late last year, the film arrived on the streaming giant on January 5th.

The film has an impressive score of 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, describing it as a “solid first film” for Dan and a “touching look at love after death.”
He spoke ahead of the film's release about the work he had to do to hopefully escape the accusations of nepotism that are rife in the entertainment industry, including the way he distanced himself from his father for five years who “earned his place”.

Not only does he star in the film, but he also wrote and directed it, appearing behind the scenes
Eugene, 77, had starred in films such as American Pie, A Mighty Wind and Best In Show before his son, 40, entered the industry.
It wasn't until Dan felt he had made a name for himself in the industry that he approached Eugene in 2015 to take part in the hit comedy Schitt's Creek.
He told the audience at 92NY in New York: “It wasn't until I did the work and came up with the idea for Schitt's Creek that I knew I had what it took to pull my weight.”
Schitt's Creek ran for six seasons before ending in 2020, while Dan moved on to other projects – he's now in pre-production on the upcoming animated comedy Standing By, which he will star in, direct and co-write.
