Netflix’s curiosity continues with the recently announced Trivia Quest series, an interactive experience that will start on April 1.
Like its other interactive series like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch or Netflix with similar trivia, Cat Burglar – which launched last month – Trivia Quest is a narrative interactive experience, meaning that any “victory” will help move the story. For Trivia Quest, the correct answer to the game’s questions will also help free the protagonist’s friends, Willie, who swears to rescue hostages citizens of Trivia Land, captured by a thirsty villain named Evil Rocky.
Trivia Quest is the latest show to join Netflix’s growing range of interactive titles. This is the second game, after Cat Burglar, which includes an element of curiosity – something Netflix vice president of comedy series and interactive programming Andy Weil told The Verge last month that the company plans to experiment with more as it expands its gaming initiative.
Trivia Quest joins a growing list of interactive series on Netflix
A new episode of Trivia Quest will be released daily in April, with a total of 30 episodes. (Before you ask, Weil writes, “No, it’s not an April Fool’s joke.”) Each episode will include 24 interesting questions (12 easy and 12 difficult) in a multi-choice format. Categories include science, entertainment, sports, art, geography and history. The game is based on Etermax’s Trivia Crack, which the New York Times reports is licensed by Netflix.
Players will be able to replay the tests to earn points and answer questions they may have missed before. Weil also writes that each individual test includes a final ending, but we still don’t want to tell you too much about it. You’ll have to play to see. “
Trivia Quest arrives at Netflix next month on Android phones and tablets; iPhone, iPad and iPod Touches; supported smart TVs, receivers and consoles; as well as in the network. Devices that are not currently supported include Apple TV, some Chromecast devices (excluding Google TV), Tesla touch screens, browsers using Silverlight, and the Netflix app for Windows.
