Netflix’s One Piece live-action series gets final trailer just before release

Netflix has released the final trailer for the live-action adaptation “One Piece” as well as new pictures ahead of the premiere.

Netflix’s One Piece is based on Japan’s best-selling manga series of all time. It’s an adventure on the high seas in which Monkey D. Luffy longs for a life of freedom. One Piece is actually the name of the treasure Luffy is looking for on his journey to become the Pirate King. But first he must assemble a crew and find a ship to sail.

In One Piece, Iñaki stars as Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are writers, executive producers and showrunners. Eiichiro Oda (creator of the manga), Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements are also executive producers.

As a sweet appeal to fans of the anime, Netflix recently released a One Piece trailer (which you can watch here) that features the anime’s Japanese voice dubbing the live-action English-speaking cast. Netflix previously announced that the original voice actors would be reprising their roles for the live-action Japanese dub “One Piece,” bringing some of the spirit of the popular anime to the adaptation. Meanwhile, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda made specific demands to Netflix before the company adapted his work into live-action.

One Piece will be released on Netflix on August 31st.
