The voice previously sung by Milla was used to recite the national anthem and call for a coup d’état in the middle of the Christmas season. Instead of spending the date with family and friends, singer Netinho opted to spend his December 24th at the Bolsonarists’ camp set up in front of the army headquarters in Mouraria, Salvador.
In a series of videos posted to Instagram, the artist called out to people to the site and “congratulated” the protesters present there. “Before you spend the night with your family, come here,” he called.
“The symbolism and meaning of Christmas, in addition to the very serious moment we are living in, made me leave yesterday respectfully leaving family and friends, each for themselves, and living my moment with my thoughts of Brazil and the World judged,” wrote in the caption of one of the publications.
The artist also says he wants to see the country free of “communism”.
Netinho has become one of the biggest voices of Bolsonarianism and ultraconservatism in Salvador in recent years. In this year’s election, he even ran as a federal deputy for the PL, the same abbreviation as Bolsonaro. He was not elected, but holds the position of deputy and can take over in the chamber if a party leader resigns.
