The Pope prays for war refugees in Ukrainian and Russian

Netrebko I condemn the war I want to bring back to the scene music

He has only met Putin “a few times” and is clearly distancing himself from the war in Ukraine: the German lawyer for the Russian soprano Anna Netrebko has published a statement announcing his return to the European stage for the end of May. “I strongly condemn he says the war against Ukraine and my thoughts are with the victims of this war and their families.
My position is clear. I am not a member of any political party, nor am I affiliated with any leader of Russia.
I acknowledge and regret that some of my past actions or statements have sometimes been misconstrued.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, several opera houses, including the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Berlin State Opera in Berlin, asked Netrebko for a clear condemnation of the war. Netrebko had responded to the requests with answers deemed unsatisfactory by various theaters. The singer then personally canceled her holdings and took some time off. Critics point out that Netrebko has repeatedly met with Putin, received personal tributes from him and in 2014 allegedly supported the Russian Donetsk separatists.
In his statement, Netrebko instead adds that he has “only met President Putin a few times”, has never received economic support from Russia and has been living in Austria for some time. “I love Russia, my country of origin, and work with my art exclusively for peace and harmony,” the statement concludes.
