New accessible bike paths in the regional park – L’ – L’ – Drummondville

DRUMMOND FOREST. A beautiful day awaited visitors to the Forêt Drummond Regional Park, Silver Maples sector, for the opening of the cross-country mountain bike trails.

There are no less than 27.5 kilometers of paths available for cycling enthusiasts. Narrow single trails and wide stone dust forest paths are available to people.

Whether to relax, improve your cardio workout or simply discover new landscapes, dozens of visitors were on hand to hit the slopes.

“It runs fine. These are paths lined with small stones. We like it because they are cycle paths and there are no cars allowed there. So it’s safe,” explains a citizen of Sorel-Tracy, who is staying at the Voltigeurs campsite for a few days.

For Saint-Charles-de-Drummond residents Philippe Bauvin and Sébastien Campeau, they are two regular cyclists who were preparing to hit the trails.

“The geographical location in Drummond is not too mountainous. We therefore expect paths that do not have large differences in height and are accessible to young families. Depending on our trip, we will see if we can bring our children here,” says Mr. Bauvin with a smile on his face.

For his part, Mr. Campeau is already thinking about cycling again without having tested the new routes. “It’s the kind of place where I can get my cardio workout when we go on trips somewhere in Quebec. “The goal is to stay in shape,” he reveals and is ready to head into the forest.

One benefit people like about these new bike paths is that the forest is close to Drummondville, yet blocks out the stressful noises of the city.

“We don’t have to drive one or two hours to get into nature,” says Philippe Bauvin happily.

A change of scenery prompted a couple from Thetford Mines to visit Forêt Drummond Regional Park. “I was recommended to come to this area as it runs all the way around and we had a view of the water’s edge,” the lady said.

“It’s not about a challenge, but above all about the landscape and the good weather,” adds her partner Sylvain Boily.

Visitors can access the site free of charge via the Silver Maples parking lot.

Some important regulations before you go there

– Wearing a helmet is mandatory and protective equipment is strongly recommended;

– Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult;

– Make sure you are always visible on the slopes;

– It is forbidden to change the route.
