Israel unabatedly continues its attacks on the Gaza Strip. According to eyewitnesses, particularly violent airstrikes and artillery shelling took place in the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Palestinian territory, last night.
The Israeli army said it carried out raids on a Hamas weapons depot in Khan Yunis and attacks on “terrorists” who wanted to plant explosives near soldiers.
The Ministry of Health, controlled by the Islamist Hamas, spoke of “dozens of martyrs and more than 100 injured” as a result of new air and artillery attacks. Meanwhile, in Ashkelon, in southern Israel, alarm sirens warned of Hamas rocket launches.
Hundreds of arrests in the West Bank
In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army said it had detained hundreds of Palestinians in the town of Tulkarm on suspicion of militant activity. During the operation, soldiers searched homes, destroyed militant infrastructure and seized numerous weapons.
According to residents, at least 120 people were arrested and three houses were destroyed. Among them is the home of a member of the Tulkarm Brigades, a militant group linked to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah organization.
