There was renewed mutual shelling on Israel's border with Lebanon on Sunday.
The Israeli army said several projectiles were fired from Lebanon towards Israel. The military responded with artillery and tanks against the places where the shots were fired. An Israeli fighter jet had previously attacked the infrastructure of the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah.
Hezbollah said it had bombed Israeli army positions. Since the start of the war in Gaza, following the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, there have been repeated clashes between the Israeli army and militant groups such as Hezbollah in the Israeli-Lebanese border region. There are always deaths on both sides. It is the worst escalation since the second Lebanon war in 2006. It fuels fears of a new and bigger war between Israel and Hezbollah.
