A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly running over a viewer while performing dangerous donut stunts in his car on a Manhattan street.
Tyler Greer of New Jersey has been charged with assault, reckless driving and reckless endangerment in connection with an incident in which 23-year-old Christopher Brito was critically injured.
A disturbing surveillance video early Sunday morning shows Brito accidentally tripping and hitting the ground right in the path of a red two-door Infiniti that police say Greer was driving.
Brito, who has been trying to get a closer angle of Greer’s circling maneuvers with his cell phone’s camera, has undergone surgery on both hands but is still in need of reconstructive surgery on his face.
Police said that after a dangerous stunt at the intersection of Vandamme and Greenwich streets in Hudson Square, Greer fled the scene, leaving a bloodied Brito lying on the floor.
According to officials, Christopher suffered a skull fracture, a head injury, two hip fractures, and major body trauma following the impact. He was quickly taken to Bellevue Hospital.

According to the New York Daily News, on Wednesday, Greer showed up at the station building of the 1st precinct, accompanied by his family and girlfriend.

He was also accused of running away from the scene of the accident. His lawyer claims that Greer did not realize he hit Brito when he fled the scene.
“He had no idea the baby was on the floor,” Greer’s lawyer Nicholas Ramcharitar told the Daily News.
‘He [was] concentrating on keeping the car in the circle. he did not know [that he had hit Brito] before the fact.”
“Everyone told him to leave, get out of here.”

Meanwhile, Brito’s mother, Jacqueline, said that his “skull was cracked and his arms, ribs, nose and pelvis were broken.”
“It’s terrible,” she told the New York Post. “His forehead is smashed, and so is his nose.”
On the GoFundMe page that raised over $15,000, she described her son as “outgoing, kind, smart, hardworking, respectful, driven and dedicated, especially when it comes to his sneakers.”
She says his condition is slowly improving after he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
“If I tell him to shake his head, he will start shaking it.” “Yes,” she told the Post. “He can also move his finger.”

Brito’s mother stated that the police told her that Greer had fake license plates.
Police said that after the horrific incident, Greer fled the scene in his car with “Tyler Spec” written in yellow letters.
“His friend told me they don’t even know (Greer),” Jacqueline said before Greer gave up on Wednesday.
She claimed that the police told her that Greer had a fake license plate.
“I don’t even know why they do it. They do it on the street,” she added.
The GoFundMe fundraising page for Christopher says he is “unable to walk, talk, move, or eat at the moment.”
“He’s going to have major surgeries, he needs medication, and for now the doctors have said he’ll be recovering in intensive care over the next few weeks, possibly months.

The horrifying attack came as the city recovered from last month’s crime wave, with incidents up nearly 60 percent from last year, according to statistics released Thursday.
The city’s latest crime figures show 9,138 incidents in February, up from 5,759 in the same period in 2021 — with double-digit increases in nearly all major categories.
There were 32 murders in February, three more than in the same month last year.
Many other categories saw a shocking jump, including car theft, which rose nearly 105 percent; grand theft, which jumped nearly 80 percent from the previous year; robberies, which rose by 56 percent; A 44 percent increase in burglaries and a 22 percent surge in assaults. Rape also rose by a staggering 35 percent in February.
According to the latest NYPD statistics, total crime in New York is up more than 45 percent from the same period last year.
